"By putting together a task force comprised of elements from the Second, Fifth and Ninth squadrons," Cain was speaking to the Queen, the Consort and Ambrose. Zero was also there, by his side. "I believe that we can take back Outpost Nine - the most important piece of real estate in the Outer Zone." The Browncoats were stationed there, and it was over the main route from the Outer Zone to Ev.

"Your plan, General Cain, is not without merit," Ahamo replied, carefully, using formal language was rare for him. It didn't bode well. "But I'm skeptical. The Browncoat will send a large squad of their own to meet you."

"Which will divert their forces and slow their advance into Zone Territory."

"As well as leave their flank vulnerable," Zero added.

"Giving us a chance to go on the offensive, for a change," Cain confirmed.

"There's one thing that still concerns me..." Lavender spoke up.

"What's that, Your Highness?" Cain asked.

"Central City. You've left it a very tempting target."

"The City would still be protected by the Third squadron," Zero answered.

"But what if you're wrong and the Browncoats doesn't commit its forces to protect Outpost Nine?" Lavender insisted. "What if they launch a full-scale assault on Central City instead?" The two men hesitated. "If we do what you're proposing, we'll never get reinforcements there in time."

"The Browncoats won't attack Central City," Cain decided.

Ahamo raised his eyebrow. "How can you be sure?"

"Because Central City isn't the key to the Outer Zone. The Passage is. And whoever controls Outpost Nine controls the Passage."

Lavender gave her husband a thoughtful look before turning back to Cain and nodded.

"Are you sure?" Louise asked, a small smile on her face.

The Alchemist, Zylar, was practically bouncing up and down. "Absolutely sure! I can take down the minefield, like that!" he snapped his fingers. "We've already started. The mines are being deactivated."

Adora had returned. Cain and Zero met her in a private little board. "Are you sure this is reliable?" Zero asked her.

Adora nodded. "I've known the source for five years. I trust her."

"Then we have a problem," Zero concluded. "The minefield's coming down in three days. The Ninth won't get here for at least another four."

"Then we go without them," Cain replied.

"We've run out of time," Adora agreed.

Zero nodded. "If those Ev reinforments come through the Passage... we'll have lost everything."

"We take the people we have, fight our way to Outpost Nine and destroy their emitter. It's our only hope."

"Sounds like fun!" Zero grinned.

Adora and Wyatt stared at him.
